Adding attachment fields
To add an attachment field, start by clicking the plus sign that's to the right of your existing fields. This will allow you to select the attachment field type and name the field.
Once you've created the field you can start uploading attachments to it.
Uploading attachments
To upload an attachment in the attachment field, you can click the plus (+) button on the cell to which you'd like to add an attachment, or click on the Attach file button in the expanded cell. This will bring up a file uploader dialog which will let you upload attachments from a variety of different sources.
You can also drag and drop attachments onto a cell, expanded cell, or into the file uploader dialog.
Bulk uploading attachments
You can use this feature to upload a single attachment, or any number of attachments in bulk. If you need to create new records by uploading attachments in bulk, please see this article which covers how to do that using the gallery view.
Downloading attachments
You can download each individual attachment by clicking the Download icon (when viewing multiple attachments in an expanded record) or clicking the blue Download button (when viewing a single attachment). Any base collaborator, of any permission level, can download the files stored in the attachment field if they have access to the base.
If you'd like to restrict who can download an attachment within a certain view we recommend creating a view share link with the "Allow viewers to copy data out of this view" option left toggled off.
To download attachments in bulk, use the new Scripting Extension with this script that you can copy and use in your base.
Renaming attachments
To rename an attachment, click the pencil icon while in the expanded cell view or the lightbox view. The pencil icon appears in the expanded cell view when you mouse over an attachment thumbnail, and at in the bottom left of the screen while in lightbox view.
Removing attachments
To remove an attachment, use the trash bin icon while in the expanded cell view or the lightbox view. The trash bin icon appears in the expanded cell view when you mouse over an attachment thumbnail, and at in the bottom left of the screen while in lightbox view.
Or you can expand the attachment and click the trash can icon:
Annotating attachments and comments
Attachment annotations let you leave comments in a specific position on an Airtable attachment. You can give fast, clear, actionable feedback on any type of visual asset to help speed up your creative process and ship high-quality content, fast. Learn more about annotations here.
