Permissions

  • Owner / Creator - Can ask AI questions and build using AI Assistant or configure AI fields

  • Editor - Can "Generate" content as an output in AI enabled fields

  • All other permission levels allow you to ask AI Assistant questions about the data you can access hosted in bases and interfaces

To use AI Assistant:

  1. Open your Airtable homepage.

  2. Create or open the base where you want to use AI Assistant.

  3. Click AI Assistant.

  4. Optional: Click the settings icon in the top-right corner.

    1. A new window opens, allowing you to turn on/off various settings and provide customization context about your app.

    2. Click Save.

  5. Enter your question/prompt in the “Ask or create anything” field or choose from one of the suggestions.  

    1. Follow the remaining prompt.

What features aren’t supported while using AI Assistant?

Airtable AI Assistant cannot:

  • Remove or regenerate interfaces or automations in an existing base.

    • While you can modify things you've created using AI Assistant, you can't update anything produced outside of AI Assistant.

  • Create records or edit record data.

  • Create or edit forms.
