Custom domains overview
Note
Custom domains are base-scoped—meaning 1 custom domain can host 1 base.
Custom domains allow you to replace Airtable’s domain (Airtable.com) with your own branding (Example-my-company.com), giving bases a more custom look and providing a white-labeled experience for your collaborators.
Setting up custom domains
Note
The custom domains beta is only available for Enterprise admins on Enterprise Scale plans.
To set up a custom domain:
Open your admin panel.
Click Bases.
Locate the base where you want to add a custom domain.
Click Edit to the right of the base’s name.
Enter the domain URL.
Click Add Domain.
The message "We're preparing the DNS records you'll need to add to your domain provider. Check back in a few minutes." appears while your custom domain is being configured.
Log in to your DNS provider once your records are available, and paste the CNAME records.
This step may vary depending on which DNS provider you use.
Please submit your questions or feedback if you're experiencing issues during the custom domain setup process.
Custom domains typically verify within 1-4 hours. Once your custom domain is active, the message "Custom domain is successfully configured and active" appears.
Visit your custom domain’s URL to confirm your custom domain is active.
FAQs
Why am I seeing the “Your connection is not private” error?
If you're seeing the "Your connection is not private" error, then review the status of your custom domain. It might take some time for SSL certificates to be generated and attached. Please get in touch with our support team if you have additional questions.
Why does my custom domain's status show "Successful" while I'm still receiving the "Your connection is not private" error?
If your custom domain status is "Successful," your new certificates have been installed on our end. We recommend confirming your DNS settings include the “.” when copying your CNAME records.
Keep in mind that different providers like GoDaddy, Route 53, etc, may have different setups with things like:
Trailing “.” in CNAME records
Restrictions on ALIAS / A records and apex domains
Can I add an apex domain?
While apex domains are unsupported during the custom domains beta, they'll be available in the future.
