Article Summary

The following is a summary of the different Airtable plans. We offer both monthly and annual plans.

For the most up-to-date information, please see the Airtable pricing page. We also recommend reading over our Billing FAQ, which outlines some common questions about how our billing works.

Note that all accounts offer the ability to create unlimited workspaces, however, we do have limits on the number of bases a workspace may have and the number of tables, views, and fields a base may have.

  • Bases per workspace - 500
  • Tables per base - 1000
  • Views per base - 1000
  • Fields per table - 500

Free plans

The first workspace created after signing up, as well as any additional workspaces added later, will be Free workspaces to start. However, there are some hard limits to be aware of. Any base within a Free workspace may only contain 1,200 records and 2GB of attachments. Additionally, there is a maximum of 5 collaborators with editor permissions or higher. If one of your workspaces does exceed these limits, you will be asked to upgrade the workspace to one of our premium plans, which provide many additional features as well as increased record and attachment limits. On our Free plan, you can have any number of collaborators with read-only or commentor permission levels. Continue reading for a more detailed breakdown of all the things included in the free plan!

Record limits: 1,200 records/base

Bases in a workspace on the free plan can support a maximum of 1,200 records (rows) each. Note that this number is cumulative over different tables. For example, a base with one table that has 1,200 records and a base with two tables of 600 records a piece would both be at the limits of the free plan.

Attachment space: 2GB/base

Using Airtable's attachment fields, each base on the free plan can store up to 2GB of file attachments.

Revision and snapshot history: 2 weeks

Record-level revision history is a feature that shows a visual activity feed of the changes made to each record. A base on the free plan stores 2 weeks' worth of revision history.

Base snapshots allow you to back up a base and restore it to an earlier version. A base on the free plan can store the past 2 weeks' worth of snapshots.

Extensions

Users on Free plans are able to add 1 unique extension type per base. Extensions enable you to extend the functionality of your base. You can use extensions to visualize and summarize your records in colorful ways (e.g. building charts or maps from your bases) or even directly integrate your Airtable bases with your favorite extensions (e.g. send SMS messages directly from your base with Twilio).

Forms

On the free plan, forms cannot be customized with a header image, nor can the Airtable branding be removed. Airtable branding within bases cannot be removed on the free plan or any other plan.

Record coloring

On the free plan, you cannot color-code your records using record coloring, which allows you to automatically color records by using custom filtering conditions or by using single select fields.

Calendar

On the free plan, you cannot create date ranges in a calendar view, nor can you plot multiple date fields on a calendar view.

Plus plans

The Airtable Plus plan costs $12/user/month on the monthly billing plan ($144/year) and $10/user/month on the annual billing plan ($120/year). (Please refer to this article for more discussion of who counts as a user for billing purposes.)

Record limits: 5,000 records/base

Bases in a workspace on the Plus plan can support a maximum of 5,000 records (rows) each.

Note that this number is cumulative over different tables. For example, a base with one table that has 5,000 records and a base with two tables of 2,500 records a piece would both be at the limits of the Plus plan.

Attachment space: 5GB/base

Using Airtable's attachment fields, each base on the Plus plan can store up to 5GB of file attachments.

Revision and snapshot history: 6 months

Record-level revision history is a feature that shows a visual activity feed of the changes made to each record. A base on the Plus plan stores 6 months' worth of revision history.

Base snapshots allow you to back up a base and restore it to an earlier version. A base on the Plus plan can store the past 6 months' worth of snapshots.

Extensions

Users on Plus plans are able to add up to 3 unique extension types per base.

Pro plans

The Airtable Pro plan costs $24/user/month on the monthly billing plan and $20/user/month on the annual billing plan. The biggest benefits of our Pro plan are access to Extensions, increased record limits, Automations, Airtable Sync and a ton of other features that make Airtable even more enjoyable! Record limits: 50,000 records/base

Note that this number is cumulative over different tables. For example, a base with one table that has 50,000 records and a base with two tables of 25,000 records a piece would both be at the limits of the Pro plan.

Attachment space: 20GB/base

Using Airtable's attachment fields, each base on the Pro plan can store up to 20GB of file attachments.

Revision and snapshot history: 1 year

Record-level revision history is a feature that shows a visual activity feed of the changes made to each record. A base on the Pro plan stores 1 year 's worth of revision history.

Base snapshots allow you to back up a base and restore it to an earlier version. A base on the Pro plan can store the past 1 year 's worth of snapshots.

Automations

Automations allow you to configure custom trigger-action workflowsdirectly within your Airtable base. This allows you to save time by automating repetitive tasks, increasing communication efficiency, and reducing the overall margin of error.

Extensions

Extensions, available on Pro plans, enable you to extend the functionality of your base. You can use extensions to visualize and summarize your records in colorful ways (e.g. building charts or maps from your bases) or even directly integrate your Airtable bases with your favorite extensions (e.g. send SMS messages directly from your base with Twilio).

Forms

The Airtable Pro plan offers premium customization options for forms. Forms on the Pro plan can be customized with a cover image and logo. Additionally, Airtable branding can be removed on Pro plan forms. Airtable branding within bases cannot be removed on the pro plan or any other plan.

Timeline and Gantt views

Timeline and Gantt views allow you and your team to visualize trackable events like tasks, projects, and more. These two views are only available in workspaces on Pro and Enterprise plans.

Locked views and personal views

Locked views and personal views are only available on Pro and Enterprise plans.

Locked views allow collaborators with creator or owner permissions to prevent all collaborators from altering a view's configuration (i.e., the customizable elements of a view like filters, field visibility, field order, row heights, and record coloring) until it's been explicitly unlocked by another collaborator with creator or owner permissions.

Personal views allow a collaborator with creator, editor, or commenter permissions to create views that only the person who created the view can edit, and that are hidden from other collaborators' view bars by default.

Additional select colors

On the Pro and Enterprise plans, the available color palette for single and multiple select fields expands from 7 to 40 different colors.

Restricted share links

On the Pro and Enterprise plans, users can choose to give their base and view share links additional layers of security by restricting access with a password or restricting access by email domain.

Anyone that wants to view the contents of a password-protected share link will need both the randomly generated URL and the password.

Anyone that wants to view the contents of an email domain-restricted share link will need both the randomly generated URL and to be logged into an Airtable account using an email address from the specified email domain.

Signing up

While signed in to your Airtable account, students can follow this link to get the plan. If you need to update your account with an EDU email, check out this article to learn how. If you do not have a .edu domain attached to your school email, you can fill out the form here: Student Access Form

Student plan overview

After signing up via one of the methods listed above, the length of the Student Pro plan trial that you receive is uniquely based upon the date on which you will graduate. You can expect to see a feature set that mimics the conventional Airtable Pro plan. This means that you will see:

  • A record limit of 50,000 records per base
  • An attachment limit of 20GB per base
  • A 1-year record revision history
  • Access and increased limits to our very popular features such as Automations, Airtable Sync, extensions, and much more.

FAQs

What happens at the end of my trial period?

At the end of your Student Pro plan trial period, that workspace will default to the free version of Airtable. This means that they will be subject to the limitations of the free plan. After a base reaches its plan's record or attachment storage limit, we do not immediately restrict you from adding more information to the over-limit base. We provide a reasonable timeframe to either upgrade the workspace or bring the base back within its plan's limits.
