FAQs
Why isn't Ctrl + F / Cmd + F opening my browser's find/search bar?
The find-in-view/search shortcut operates differently depending on the surface and context of your Airtable AI settings:
Bases
In a base grid view, this shortcut opens Airtable’s find-in-view search (the in-product bar that searches within the current view). It does not open your browser’s find-in-page by default.
When Omni AI is enabled for that base, the same find bar can also connect to Omni.
For example, use Ask Omni, choose a suggestion when they appear, or press Ctrl + Enter (Windows) / Cmd + Enter (Mac) from the search field to send your text to Omni search.
Turning Omni off (at the base or workspace level, per your Omni settings) removes those Omni options but does not switch Ctrl/Cmd + F to the browser’s find tool—you still get Airtable’s find-in-view.
If your cursor is inside a cell editor, a form field, or another text input, Ctrl/Cmd + F may be reserved for searching or editing that field. Click outside the field or select the grid first if the shortcut doesn’t behave as expected.
Interfaces
Alt + / (Windows) / Option + / (Mac) activates the query container search for that interface page (expand or focus the search control for the page’s data container).
If the interface includes a grid visualization, Ctrl + F / Cmd + F may still open find-in-view for that grid visualization, similar to a base. Use Alt + / or Option + / when you want the interface-level search control.
