If you have a base with a list of email addresses—like a list of VIP customers, an employee directory, or a club roster—you can email people on that list directly from your base using the SendGrid extension.

To install the SendGrid extension:

  1. Open your Airtable homepage.

  2. Create or open the base where you want to install the SendGrid extension.

  3. Click Extensions in the top-right corner.

  4. Click Ad an extension.

  5. Search for and locate the SendGrid extension.

  6. Click Add, then Get started.

    1. Follow the on-screen prompt to sign up or log in to SendGrid and create an API key.

  7. After generating your API key, enter it in the “SendGrid API” field.

  8. Click Save API key.

Note

Before entering your sender information, please verify your "From" and "Reply to" email addresses.

Before sending emails, you will be asked to provide information to help your recipients understand who is contacting them and why. The sender info includes the following:

  • From name: This name appears in an inbox, indicating who the email is from. If you don't include a "From name," the "From name" defaults to your email address.

  • From email address: This is the email address used to send your messages.

  • Reply to email address: This optional email address is used when you want your recipient's responses to go to a different address than your "From email address." If you don't provide a "Reply to email address," replies to your emails are sent your "from email address."

Note

Field names are case-sensitive. If the name of your field is "First name," you'll need to type your field name {First name} precisely as it appears.

After entering your sender info details, you can configure the SendGrid settings. The send emails details require you select the following:

  • The table hosting the records you intend to send to recipients.

  • Your email address fields

  • The email subject.

  • The message to include in your email
