Creating bases in Airtable
Airtable bases can have multiple tables, each containing data; within each table, there are records, with data for each record stored in fields.
Creating bases
Visit your Airtable homepage.
Click + Create a base.
Select your preferred workspace.
Once your base opens, you can choose from Grid, Form, Calendar, Kanban, Timeline, List, Gantt, and New Section options.
NOTEKeep in mind that Timeline, Gantt, and New section options are only eligible on Team, Business, and Enterprise Scale plans.
Using templates, importing, duplicating, and restoring bases in Airtable
Using templates, importing, duplicating, and restoring bases
Using a template from our template gallery - If you're new to Airtable, we recommend starting with a template so you can see how bases are typically structured. Choose between an existing template that is already tailored, or you can customize one to meet your project's needs.
Importing an existing spreadsheet or CSV into a new base - Use an existing spreadsheet or data source to export a CSV and then import that CSV into a new Airtable base.
Duplicating an existing Airtable base - If you already have an existing Airtable base that works for you, you can easily duplicate that entire base.
Taking and restoring base snapshots - Use Airtable to take snapshots of your bases that you can use to restore an earlier version in the event of accidental changes.
Removing yourself from shared Airtable bases
Removing yourself from shared bases
Visit your Airtable homepage.
Open the shared base you want to remove yourself from.
Click the “Share” button in the top right corner, then Manage access.
Select the checkbox next to your name.
Click Remove 1 collaborator.
Customizing a base’s appearance
Customizing base appearance
You can customize the appearance of your base by changing its color and icon. On paid Airtable plans, you’ll have access to more appearance options. You can change the color and icon of your base from the homepage or from within the base:
From the homepage: Hover over the base you want to modify and click the … icon. Then, click Customize appearance from the menu that appears.
From an open base: You can also change your base's color and icon from inside the base by clicking the dropdown arrow next to the title of the base. Next, click the “Appearance” tab to view and change the base color and/or icon.
If you're finding that you want more choices for icons beyond what's available in the icons section, you can also set an emoji as the base icon:
Select the first available icon in the picker (the one that takes the first two characters of the base title),
Then rename the base by putting an emoji of your choice at the beginning of the base's title.
If you have Windows 10, you can bring up an emoji picker by typing Windows .or Windows;.
If you have a Mac, you can bring up an emoji picker by typing Ctrl Ctrl Space.
Alternatively, you can also copy and paste your favorite emoji from Emojipedia.
